Nireus the Greek aquaculture giant, listed in Athens, has posted 33% sales growth for 2007  despite current low prices for sea bream and sea bass (the Mediterranean’s favourite fish species). Nireus has pushed forward a wave of acquisitions focussing on the Mediterranean region (Spain & Turkey) resulting in a dominant position in aquaculture for the region. Few protein producers can claim such success in 2007.
