Dr Thomas Fairhurst; an agricultural engineer with extensive field experience in South East Asia and Africa. Dr. Fairhurst is a specialist in management and agronomy of tropical crops. His key focuses are: intensification of productivity in lowland & upland agriculture systems, computer software development for data management in agriculture and trouble shooting in plantations, agriculture projects and farming systems. Thomas’s employment history includes Cargill, the Phosphate and Potash Institute and GTZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Technische Zusammenarbeit).
More recently Thomas has completed extensive consultancy work for D1BP Fuel Crops, Wageningen University and the World Bank. Thomas has published numerous crop production technical handbooks and books on agronomy, many of which have been translated into several languages. Thomas holds a PhD in forestry and
soil science.
